The NLEAFCF’s 17th Annual Thanksgiving Breakfast included Global Foundation for First Responders awarding scholarship to daughter of FDNY Firefighter
Garden City, New York – The Global Foundation for First Responders (GFFFR) was privileged to be one of the participating sponsors of The NLEAFCF’s (National Law Enforcement & Firefighters Children’s Foundation) 17th Annual Thanksgiving Parade Breakfast. Held in the heart of New York City in Bryant Park, the event hosted over 1,300 children and relatives of fallen law enforcement officers and firefighters for a very special pre-parade breakfast. Made even more special was the awarding of the Foundation’s scholarship to the daughter of an FDNY firefighter at the event. A very deserving Boston College student, whose father served on the FDNY was in attendance to celebrate her accomplishment.
“This is a free event for children and other family members to participate in. It is a wonderful and heart-warming time for all of us to enjoy great food and the company of our special guests. It was our honor to present a scholarship to a very deserving and hardworking young lady who attends Boston College,” explains William McGuire, Founder and Executive Director of GFFFR. Each year, according to NLEAFCF’s website new families look forward to this event for a chance to gather, celebrate and ease the sorrow that can be particularly difficult during the holiday season. In addition to enjoying breakfast, the families were provided special access to experience the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, up-close.
As a sponsor, the Global Foundation helped to underwrite the costs of the event. The Global Foundation for First Responders raises awareness for the needs of national law enforcement, firefighters’ children’s foundations and other children’s charities so their immediate, and long-term needs, are satisfied.

He started the foundation nearly two years ago after witnessing the ever-increasing needs of families of first responders first hand.
