Each year Global Foundation for First Responders awards over $20,000
Garden City, New York – The Global Foundation for First Responders (GFFFR) has established, a scholarship to benefit the children of law enforcement officers and firefighters. The foundation formed in 2015 first started awarding scholarships through a partnership with the National Law Enforcement & Firefighters Children’s Foundation in 2016. This will be the second year GFFFR is working with this amazing organization responsible for distributing tuition money to an eligible student who is from, or resides and attends school, in the New York Tri-state region (NY, NJ, CT).
The Global Foundation holds two annual fundraisers; Charity Dinner and Golf Outing, with monies raised specifically earmarked for the scholarship fund. “It is important to recognize the hard work these students perform and the pressure they are under to get to the next level. In their young lives, they have been touched by tragedy and the goal of our foundation is to make sure they are monetarily taken care of as they earn their education,” states William McGuire, Founder and Executive Director of the Global Foundation for First Responders.
The NLEAFCF awards scholarships to children of first responders who have either died or became permanently disabled in the line of duty. These awards recognize the financial need along with academic merit and overall achievement, according to the NLEAFCF. In 2016, the Global Foundation for First Responders partnered with NLEAFCF to establish the Global First Responders Scholarships. About William McGuire Founder:
William McGuire is a native of Long Island and a 27-year member of the Mineola Fire Department. He started the foundation nearly two years ago after witnessing the ever-increasing needs of families of first responders first hand. It became his passion to give back to all that serve leading to the development of Global Foundation for First Responders.
